Ashtanga - Basics Length: 60 minutes Cost: $5

The basics class is intended for the beginning student. The class focuses on the basic techniques and postures of Ashtanga yoga. Fewer postures and a more instructive method is used in order to encourage a foundation for further practice. Some posture adjustments are provided.

Ashtanga Primary Series - guided Length: 90 minutes Cost: $10

This class is the traditional practice of the initial series of Ashtanga yoga (modern variations being called flow yoga, vinyasa yoga or "power yoga"). The practice encourages concentration and is physical with a series of movements (vinyasa) designed to help "flow" from posture to posture for a steady and consistent pace. The pace of movement helps to generate internal heat which warms the muscles for greater flexibility and encourages sweat to help remove toxins from the body.

The guided class is an instructor-led practice of the series combined with posture adjustments and verbal cues.

Ashtanga Primary Series - Mysore Length: 90 minutes Cost: donation

The Mysore style is a group practice of the primary series without verbal instruction. Students who do not know the entire series are encouraged to observe and follow the sequence of more advanced students. The class is intended for those who have attended and are comfortable with guided primary series classes.

Dynamic Length: 90 minutes Cost: $10

Based on Ashtanga yoga, the dynamic class is a challenging and playful class that encourages the exploration of a variety of postures in a unique sequence. The postures presented in dynamic classes will challenge coordination, balance and strength. Nonetheless, as with all other classes, modifications will be presented to allow accessibility to each student. Dynamic classes will often include a demonstration of postures and instruction on breath and other core elements of yoga practice.
